Packing Tips
- Gather all your supplies, boxes, tape, markets, furniture covers, etc before you start to pack.
- Label EVERYTHING! Mark boxes with contents & keep a written inventory as you pack.
- Use the right size boxes. Large boxes are great for lighter items and smaller boxes are good for heavy items.
- Pack small, fragile items with appropriate packing material.
- Put heavier less fragile items at the bottom of the box.
- Boxes should only weigh as much as you can lift. Don’t over pack the boxes.
- Use a wardrobe box for hanging clothes, jackets, draperies, etc.
- When disassembling items like bed frames or tables, wrap the parts together with twine or tape. Use plastic bags for screws and bolts and tape the bag to the larger parts.
- Wrap breakables such as glasses and dishes separately and pad the box with paper or bubble wrap.
Storage Tips
- Plan ahead and keep your frequently used items at the front where you can get to them easily.
- Map it out. Make a simple drawing of where you have placed your items.
- Cover it up. Protect furniture, appliances, mattresses and other valuables with a plastic cover or cloth designed for that item.
- Think vertical. Stack your items when possible to maximize your storage space. Put the heavier items/boxes at the bottom with the lighter items at the top.
- Use a ladder or step stool to stack and access items that are over your head.
- Optimize your space by breaking down furniture with removable legs or parts. Stack chairs.
- Use your refrigerator or other large items/appliances to store other items such as towels, books or DVDs. Keep appliance doors open slightly to allow air to circulate.
- Put tools such as rakes, shovels, hoes in empty trash cans and stack empty trash cans inside each other.
- Drain the gas from gas-powered tools to prevent leakage & odors inside your unit.
- OUTSIDE PARKING: Be sure to keep any items like propane tanks, batteries or other items that can be removed secured inside your camper. Park within your lines and always in YOUR designated parking space.
